Be a Hero

According to the cover of Time Magazine, you to can be a hero just like our fighting men in WW2, all you need to do is plant a tree, oh yeah and buy the environment issue of Time.  And to commemorate your valiant effort of planting trees and buying Time, you can purchase the cover in a WOOD frame linked directly from their site.

Heros plant trees, buy magazines printed on paper, then frame them in wood.

Seriously, you want to make a difference, go out and meet your neighbors.

Damas de Blanco - Ladies in White

10 women, Damas de Blanco (Ladies in White), put the new Cuban President Dictator to the test, and found out that things are still the same.  Same miss treatment towards those who speak up and against the Castro government, and the same silence from the Main Stream Media.

Uncomon Sense:

Each Sunday, they attend Mass and then march down one of Havana’s busiest streets in silent protest on behalf of Cuban political prisoners. On Monday, 10 Damas upped the pressure by trying to take their case straight to the top, straight to the office of dictator Raúl Castro.

And according to Reuters:

Moments later, a bus pulled up and about 20 female corrections officers tried to arrest the women, who sat on the sidewalk, clasped arms and refused to move.

“They are dying, they are dying,” one women yelled with tears in her eyes.

A mob of about 100 government supporters, mainly women from nearby government buildings, quickly entered the fray, yelling insults while pushing the women, picking them up and shoving them into the waiting bus.

Documentary on Celia Cruz

Anxious to see an upcoming documentary about one of Latin Musics all time leading ladies, Celia Cruz.

Later this month, when the lights dim at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and the audience gets a taste of the ”azucar” that Celia the Queensprinkles over them, it will mark the end of a decade-long artistic odyssey that saw life, death and everything in between.

Heard about it here: http://www.babalublog.com/archives/008097.html

Ted Turner crazy for people meat and global warming

Charlie Rose: What will happen if global warming is not addressed immediately?

TURNER: Not doing it will be catastrophic. We’ll be eight degrees hotter in 10 — not 10, but 30 or 40 years, and basically none of the crops will grow, most of the people will have died, and the rest of us will be cannibals, civilization will have broken down. What the — few people left will be living in a — in a failed state like Somalia or Sudan, and — and living conditions will be intolerable. The droughts will be so bad, there will be no more corn growing. Not doing it is suicide.

People burgers coming soon to a Teds Mountain Grill near you.
